Minjarez sent an official letter to Commissioner Hank Whitman of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services formally requesting an investigation into Delgado’s death and the situation leading up to it.

Minjarez released the following statement:

"This is a formal complaint that I would like for Commissioner Whitman to investigate. This should not be occurring in our community, and I encourage DFPS to look into ways that this appalling situation could have been avoided."

On March 6, Delgado and her unborn child were found murdered. Armando Rodrigo Garcia-Ramires, 35, was charged with her and her unborn child’s murder.

Officers found Ramires suffering from a gunshot wound and they believe he attempted to take his own life but was not successful, on March 6.

Ramires still remains in the hospital.

Two children, Delgado's 9-year-old sibling and her own 1-year-old child, were taken into Child Protective Service's custody late last week.

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services reportedly never looked into Delgado's family situation prior to her death because there were no initial reports.

The state will also not be handling criminal aspects of the case, as they are under investigation by law enforcement. However, the state will be looking into the safety of the children who were taken into custody following Delgado's death.
