Texas Renaissance Festival kicks off in just over two weeks

The Texas Renaissance Festival opens in just over two weeks. Vendors are preparing for the season.

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas - The Texas Renaissance Festival kicks off in just over two weeks. Right now, there is quite a bit of preparation happening to make sure going back in time is a smooth transition. The marketing director for the festival says performers and vendors are coming in from all over the country to help prepare for the season.

The Renaissance Festival employs over 4,000 people and more than half a million visitors attend each year.
Louie Migliaccio is a vendor at the festival. He is in charge of seven buildings and more than 20 stands. Right now, he is training employees.
"It is our crunch time," said Migliaccio. "Since the job fair that happened this past weekend, we pretty much have a three week turn, from getting those guys in and getting them comfortable with the lifestyle we have."
The Texas Renaissance Festival begins Oct. 8th and runs through Nov. 27th. Gates are open on Saturdays, Sundays and Thanksgiving Friday. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
