Small child struck by bullet fragments on south side, police say

Child struck by bullet fragments on city's south side

SAN ANTONIO – A small child was struck by bullet fragments at a south side home on Easter Sunday afternoon, according to San Antonio police.

Police were called to the intersection of Stratford Court and Willis Street just before 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Sgt. Matt Murray with the San Antonio Police Department said the shot came from across the street after a dispute between neighbors. Murray said the child hit by bullet fragments did not sustain serious injuries.

Police have questioned several witnesses and have one person of interest, but no one is facing charges at the moment.

Officials said they were called to the same location earlier in the day for another report of shots fired. Around noon, police arrested one person who was charged with aggravated assault.

Sgt. Murray said the dispute between the neighbors may have been going on for some time.

K-9 units were on scene searching for evidence.
