Seven-hour standoff ends with man in custody

A seven-hour standoff on the northeast side ended shortly after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday with a man in custody.

SAN ANTONIO -  A seven-hour standoff on the northeast side ended shortly after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday with a man in custody.

The tense situation transpired in the 4000 block of Enchanted Sun.

SAPD said the 43-year-old Gary Bombardier began shooting into the air from his backyard after drinking alcohol and taking prescription pills Monday night. 

Family members were able to escape from the home and contact police around 11 p.m.

The man reportedly barricaded himself in the home engaging in a seven-hour standoff with police.

Negotiators were able to get Bombardier to surrender peacefully.

No one was reported as injured.
