SAWS hosts annual Spring Bloom Giveaway

SAWS hosts Spring Bloom

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonians experienced ‘Rain Gardens’ at San Antonio Water System’s annual Spring Bloom Giveaway on Saturday

The crowd that showed up wrapped around the building and waited in the rain to get free water-saving plants.

The first 1,000 people went home with free greenery. Everyone else was able to mingle with experts about how to prepare for the oncoming growing season.

This year SAWS experts and gardening volunteers were teaching about the value of capturing storm water runoff and incorporating that free water into residential landscape design.

"I enjoy all sorts of wonderful landscaping and if it's going to help the environment to use less water, and conserve water, I'm for it," gardener Virginia Rodriguez-Luna said.
