SAPD: Suspect robs, shoots roommate

Suspect robs and shoots roommate, police say

SAN ANTONIO - The relationship between roommates took a violent turn when one robbed the other at gunpoint and then shot him.

Investigators said 19-year-old Gabriel Rodriguez robbed and shot his roommate.

The two apparently have known each other for 7 years and lived together for about year.

The victim and Rodriguez were in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Bandera Road when the attack happened. The victim claimed he was in a car with Rodriguez and another person when Rodriguez pulled out a gun and demanded he empty his pockets.

The victim was able to get out of the car and that's when Rodriguez shot him in the hip.

Police said Rodriguez pushed the victim to the ground, grabbed his cell phone and then fired another round but missed.

Rodriguez took off but the victim was able to identity him in a photo lineup.
He is facing aggravated robbery charges.
