Police said the suspect was sitting in his parked van in the parking lot of the north-side Texas Land and Cattle near North Star Mall after restaurant hours.

The victim reportedly pulled into the parking lot and parked right next to the suspect’s van. Police said the victim proceeded to get out of his vehicle and open the door to the parked van.

Ricondo reportedly yelled at the victim and he returned to his vehicle.

The suspect is accused of fatally shooting at the 39-year-old victim as he was driving away. Rangel sustained a gun-shot wound to the neck.

The victim crashed into two other vehicles before coming to a stop. He was transported to University Hospital where he later died.

Police said the victim had an uninjured female passenger in the car who later spoke with police.

After interviewing the suspect, detectives concluded that he was ‘lying in wait’ for the victim and that he was not defending himself when firing at him.

Ricondo’s bond is set at $150,000 and he is now facing murder charges.
