SAPD: Suspect hit in officer-involved shooting on south side

SAN ANTONIO – A carjacking Friday morning led to an officer-involved shooting Saturday evening on San Antonio’s south side, police said.

Officers were searching for the carjacking suspect from Friday but only had the license plate. The officers were able to track down the car Saturday, leading them to the Circle A-Z Food Mart on South Presa and Halliday Street.

Undercover officers approached the suspect as he was coming out of the store. Police believed he was going back to the car to grab a gun and rob the store.

The suspect came out of the car with a gun. Officers then fired several shots at the suspect.

He was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center. His condition was not released.

There were two other males in the car with the suspect. They were taken into custody for questioning but were not arrested.
