SAN ANTONIO -- A man was shot by San Antonio police after they said he pointed a gun at an officer.
At a home Saturday night on the 10500 block of Ballerina Court a woman called police saying her husband was trying to commit suicide in the back of the house.
An officer then went to the back and opened a gate.
"The man put a gun to his head, put the gun down, picked it back up and pointed it at the officer and at that time the officer fired a few shots. Struck him in the arm. He was transported to the hospital," Chief William McManus.
The man who was shot is a 39-year-old veteran.
Per standard procedure, the officer who opened fire is now on administrative duty while the incident is investigated.
