Man dies near popular downtown restaurant, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO - The customers of a popular restaurant got more than what they ordered on the menu.

Police said a man was stabbed to death near Lulu's Cafe and Motel 6 in the 900 block of North Main Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Friday.

While customers did not see the murder, they did see the victim on the ground and tried to help him before he died.

Witnesses called police and said they found the man who had been stabbed in the chest once between Lulu's and the motel. The victim, who is reportedly in his 20s, died at the scene.

There was a man seen running away from the scene, according to police. The San Antonio Police department caught that man at Quincy and Main with blood all over him.

Police said he is a companion of the victim and not a suspect.

The victim was staying in a room at the Motel 6. In fact, police are still processing the room and that's where they believe the stabbing happened.

Police have yet to identify the victim.
