SAFD responds to 'small explosion' north of downtown

The San Antonio Fire Department is responding to the scene of what they are calling a "small explosion" just north of downtown at the intersection of Elmira and Baltimore just off I-35 at a nine-unit apartment building.

According to officials, one person has been transported to a local hospital "priority one."

SAFD is saying that crews are conducting searches to find out what caused the explosion, but that it could've been caused by natural gas.

When crews arrived on the scene, there was no active fire in the building.A

Chopper 5 was live over the scene shortly after the explosion was reported.
