SAFD: More than 1,000 calls to fireworks hotline on July 4th

The San Antonio fire department is urging people who may still have unused fireworks to refrain from popping them even after the holiday.

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio fire department is urging people who may still have unused fireworks to refrain from popping them even after the holiday.

SAFD says residents can protect their homes and families by reporting any fireworks use they see in the city. The number to call is (210)207-0202,

Last night the hotline was lit up with calls from complainants.

There were 1,019 Fireworks Hotline Calls on July 4, 2017.

Here are previous year's results for the July 4th Holiday:

Calls to the hotline: 558

July 4, 2014
Calls to the Hotline: 250


Yesterday, according to SAFD there was one small extinguished fire, one fence on fire, and three false calls. (SAFD also says it's undetermined if any were the result of fireworks).

There were 34  Brush/Grass fired but again it's undetermined if any were the result of fireworks.

SAFD also says there were four brush/grass calls prior to 9 p.m. and the remaining were after 9 p.m.

SAFD also says there were no injuries or burns related to fireworks reported. 

SAPD says the number of citations won't be available until next week.
