SAN ANTONIO -- Twenty-three units were responding to a massive fire in northwest San Antonio Tuesday.
The blaze broke out around 1 p.m. in the Turtle Creek Events Center in the 3800 block of Parkdale Drive, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.
SAFD chief Charles Hood said the fire is suspicious in nature. The building is known to be occupied by transients and see a lot of foot traffic. The building has actually been abandoned for some time.
One firefighter was injured while responding to the call. He fell ten feet after he fell through a step, according to Chief Hood.
The firefighter suffered minor injuries and was expected to recover.
As of 2:30 p.m., crews were continuing to fight the blaze and look for any victims. Chief Hood said he expected firefighters to be on scene for several more hours.
