Part of I-35 shuts down tonight until Monday

TxDot says the improvements come with a price tag of 74.5 million dollars.

SAN ANTONIO - Traffic headaches are about to hit a major artery of the city.

Crews will begin to work on a bridge on I-35 and Rittiman Road Friday night at 9 p.m.

It'll cause that area to be closed for four days until 5 a.m. Monday.

TxDot said the improvements come with a price tag of 74.5 million dollars.

The project started back in 2013 and should be completed later this year.

Back in 2015, over 177,000 cars passed through the area every day.

We caught up with one of those drivers to see what they thought about the big shutdown that's coming their way.

“It’s going to be a big hassle because this is a way I travel every day. There’s going to be a bunch of congestion all around town.”

The construction will be between Rittiman Road and George Beach near San Antonio Military Medical Center.
