On-duty SAPD police officers get special meals for Easter

SAN ANTONIO – Many around San Antonio celebrated Easter by serving us.

San Antonio police officers who were on duty Easter Sunday got a special surprise in the form of a lunch box.

It was all part of the ‘Eat on the Beat' program. Councilman Roberto C. Treviño came up with the idea three years ago by delivering healthy and delicious meals to all six SAPD substations.

On Sunday, officers were able to go to their service area for a special holiday feast.

“It's nice to have somebody drop off lunch to us, because during times of busy holidays you don't always have something to eat, restaurants aren't necessarily open, especially to get something good to eat,” sergeant Michael Tuma said.

The program is supported by the Tourism Council, the San Antonio Restaurant Association and other local organizations.
