More than 30 SAFD units respond to southeast-side apartment fire

One person was injured in a southeast-side fire at a senior public housing residence on Friday evening.

Just after 6 p.m., several calls went out to the San Antonio Fire Department as a fire was reportedly burning at a public housing residence for seniors on the southeast side.

The fire happened at the Fair Avenue Apartments at 1215 Fair Avenue.

After SAFD put out the fire, Chief Charles Hood provided details saying that the fire happened on the seventh floor of the 11-floor building and that a victim was transported to SAMMC with “priority one burn injuries.”

Everyone was successfully evacuated from the building, including pets, and all were accounted for.

Chief Hood added that SAFD is still investigating the cause of the fire.
