Man uses hatchet to break into retail stores

San Antonio Police have arrested a man for several burglaries of retail stores throughout Texas and Arizona.

According to the affidavit, Demond Finster used a hatchet to break into the stores, including a local JC Penney’s. Finster stole several items, including watches and jewelry from display cases.

The affidavit claims SAPD was able to collect blood samples from the display cases. Using the samples, police were able to match DNA from the scene to Finster.

Employees at the stores were able to spot the burglar “casing” the retail locations days prior to the break-ins.

Finster was previously arrested in 2011 for sexual assault of a child.
