Man shot by Guadalupe county deputy

GUADALUPE COUNTY - A man is in the hospital after being shot by a Guadalupe County sheriff's deputy.

According to Sheriff Arnold Zwicke, the shooting happened Sunday evening around 5:30 p.m. at a home in the 1000 block of Marion Road.

Police were called in for domestic dispute.

Officers said a man in his 40’s at the house pointed a rifle to his own chin and then toward deputies. A veteran officer, whose name has yet to be released, open fired shooting the suspect once in the chest.

Zwicke said the man was airlifted to San Antonio Military Medical Center and is currently in stable condition in the ICU.

The suspect is facing assault charges related to the domestic dispute and the officer is on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.

The officers were reportedly wearing body cameras.
