Man charged in Friday's fatal east-side shooting

A 37-year-old man was shot and killed on the east side Friday night, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

SAN ANOTNIO - A 37-year-old man was shot and killed on the east side Friday night, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

SAPD said 36-year-old Skylab Gonzales arrived at a house located in the 300 block of Preston Avenue where an argument erupted with the victim, Stephen Guenther, and another man.

Gonzales reportedly pulled out a gun initially threatening the two men. Police said that's when Guenther attempted to 'lung' at Gonzales to try and point the gun in a different direction.

The suspect reportedly shot him and fled the scene.

Guenther was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Police have yet to identify the second man.

Several witnesses were interviewed at SAPD headquarters.

SAPD later found the suspect at his home.

Gonzales now faces charges for murder and aggravated assault. His bond is set at $225,000.
