Man accused of stealing Lyft driver's car at gunpoint

SAN ANTONIO - A San Antonio man is accused of robbing a Lyft driver at gunpoint and stealing the driver’s car.

Emmanual Maldonado, 26, is charged with aggravated robbery.

Police said in an arrest report Maldonado called for a Lyft ride through the app on September 22. The report said Maldonado asked the driver to stop at a nearby gas station. At some point during the ride, police said Maldonado pulled out a gun, demanded the driver's wallet, cell phone and keys and took off in the driver’s car.

The driver told police the man who robbed him had a distinctive tattoo on his right hand.

The report said five minutes after the robbery, surveillance video at the 7-Eleven at North Zarzamora and Culebra showed a man with the same distinctive tattoo on his right hand using the driver’s stolen credit card. Police said the man also pulled up in a vehicle matching the description of the driver’s stolen Lyft vehicle.

Maldonado was arrested on October 11 after police said Lyft records connected him to the crime.
