Leon Springs volunteer firefighter dies after crash leaving training

SAN ANTONIO - A 19-year-old volunteer firefighter died after a serious accident leaving a group training session on Wednesday evening. 

The Leon Springs Fire Department posted the tragic news on its Facebook page late Thursday night.

Volunteer Firefighter Annetta Hodson was heading to church after leaving a group training session with LSFD. The Facebook post reports that Hodson got into an accident shortly after leaving the station.

LSFD posted Thursday asking for prayers as she remained in critical condition Wednesday night.

Hodson was pronounced dead at 5:35 p.m. on Thursday.

"Our hearts ache as we suffer this loss and we offer our deepest most sincere condolences to her family and friends," Thursday's post read.

Hodson's friends and family have set up a Gofundme to help her loved ones with funeral costs.
