Kerrville solider killed in Jordan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Department of Defense announced on Sunday the death of three soldiers who were supporting Operation Inherent Resolve in Jordan.

Staff Sgt. James F. Moriarty was among the three who were killed. The 27-year-old solider was from Kerrville, Texas.

Moriarty along with Staff Sgt. Matthew C. Lewellen, 27, of Lawrence, Kansas and Staff Sgt. Kevin J. McEnroe, 30, of Tucson, Arizona were killed Friday when their convoy came under fire entering a Jordanian military base.

They were assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) from Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

According to the Department of Defense, the incident is under investigation.
