Jalene Salinas passes away Sunday evening

Jaline Salinas, the brave girl who touched the hearts of San Antonians and the people across the nation during her battle with terminal brain cancer, passed away Sunday evening.

The family confirmed to Eyewitness News, Jalene passed away with her family by her side around 7:45 p.m. Once the news spread,

Jalene's Journey Facebook

page quickly began to fill with messages of support.

Jalene was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer back in April of last year. Despite many rounds of chemo, radiation and surgery, the tumors eventually came back.

Earlier this year, doctors informed the family there was little else that could be done, so the family decided to work through Jalene's bucket list.

Over the course of several weeks, the family helped make a lifetime of memories come true like making a snowman and meeting the Spurs' Tim Duncan. Eventually every item was checked off her bucket list with the exception of dancing with Taylor Swift to her hit song 'Shake It Off'.

It was that final wish that went viral on Twitter through #ShakeItOffJalene. As the story picked up momentum on national media outlets and through social media, many people across the country rallied in support of Jalene. A few days after #ShakeItOffJalene began to trend, Taylor Swift, known for her generosity towards her fans, video chatted with Jalene and her family completing the 4-year-old's bucket list.

Jalene's health began to decline over the past couple of weeks and she wasn't able to attend several benefits held in her honor, including a benefit fashion show this past Friday.

The public is invited to services on Friday March 20 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Live the Life Church Southhills located at E. US Hwy 87.
