Inmate who attempted to hang himself in Bexar Co. jail bathroom dies

Officials say the exact cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office.

An inmate who attempted suicide on Thursday at the Bexar County jail has died.

A Bexar County spokesperson made the announcement on Saturday night.

Anthony Luna, 27, had been hospitalized at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital since the incident but died just after 5 p.m. Saturday.

Luna was interrupted by a detention deputy while trying to hang himself in a bathroom stall in the booking area of the jail.

He was being held on a domestic violence and strangulation charge.
