Hundreds came out for the Second Annual River Relay

River Relay & Get Outdoors

SAN ANTONIO -- It was a gorgeous day to get out on Saturday. That's exactly what hundreds of people did for the Second Annual River Relay event on the Mission Reach on the south side.

There were foot and kayak races, along with plenty of people to cheer the competitors on.

Organizers said this is a perfect time of year to enjoy all the river has to offer.

“It’s an amazing day and just a great reason to get out of the house and do something outside with like-minded people. It's fun,” Kayaker Mona Patel said.

“I think you just got to come out here and experience it. There's a lot of history here. There's a lot of recreation opportunities,” SARA board chairman Mike Lackey said. “What I will say is we maxed out on all the kayakers this year so if you want to kayak next year you better sign up early! “

Inside the park, more than 30 outdoor recreation groups provided plenty of free fun for families.
