SAN ANTONIO - Hulu, the on-demand giant, has unveiled a new office in San Antonio. It's the biggest office for the $1 billion company outside its California headquarters. Hulu says they've already hired around 300 employees in the past 200 days and hope to increase that number to about 500 by the middle of next year.
The office will be the "viewer experience headquarters" for Hulu and provide customer service to their subscribers.
"Every single day that a viewer uses Hulu they give us some of their time and we want to make sure they get the most of their time, that could be about recommending a new show for them to watch, it could be about helping with a new device they bought or it could be about helping them with a problem that they have," said Ben Smith with Hulu.
Hulu chose San Antonio from 23 cities and invested $13 million in the office. Community leaders say they hope the arrival of Hulu will help attract other hi-tech companies to come to town.
"This kind of puts us on the map. As you know the world is changing so fast...more and more is going to streaming, less going to the cable. That's part of the future and now we're part of that future," said Nelson Wolff, Bexar County Judge.
