How snow knocked out power to 90,000 CPS Energy customers

As the snow fell in San Antonio on Thursday night, entire streets went dark.

“A lot of snow was building up on those treets,” said Albert Cantu with CPS Energy. “We had a lot of wires that were across the ground across the city.”

The snow brought down several trees that fell on power lines.

CPS worked for hours on end overnight to restore power.

Cantu said that all hands were on deck until every customer’s power was back, although they say it took several hours for some to see their lights come back because of the dangerous weather conditions.

He says that if you see trees growing near power lines on your property, hire a professional or get the owner of the property to trim them so that future weather events don’t knock out power to your area.
