SAN ANTONIO - After leading his football team for 23 seasons, including four district championships, Harlandale High School coach Isaac Martinez announced his retirement on Friday.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the community of Harlandale for the tremendous support that they have given the football program at Harlandale High School for the past 34 years, especially the past 23 years of my tenure as the head football coach at Harlandale High School," he said.
Martinez brought the football team back into the spotlight in 1999 after leading the Harlandale Indians into their first playoff victory since 1946. He solidified his career finish with a Frontier Bowl record win.
