Gunshot victim drives to gas station to get help

SAN ANTONIO - A man drove himself to a gas station to get help after he was shot on the city’s north side, San Antonio Police said.

Police said the shooting happened in the 100 block of La Manda Boulevard near the intersection of Basse Road and San Pedro Avenue.

Noel Pereida and a woman got into a verbal argument inside a home, according to police. That’s when the suspect came out during the argument and shot the 40-year-old on the left side of his torso.

After the shooting, Pereida showed up to a nearby gas station where he got help. Witnesses at the store said the victim drove up in a truck bleeding saying he had been shot by his girlfriend's ex.

SAPD said the suspect and woman have a biological relationship. They are working to confirm what kind.

Pereida was transported to University Hospital in serious but stable condition as he went into surgery, police said.

Police were in the process of interviewing witnesses and suspects. They have yet to determine the charges in this case. Investigators said the suspect's shooting may be justified.
