Great Dane stolen from adoption event on north side

SAN ANTONIO -- An 18-month-old Great Dane was stolen from an adoption event on Saturday on the city's north side.

The San Antonio Great Dane Rescue was holding an event at the Unleashed store in the Northwoods Shopping center at the intersection of Highway 281 and Interstate 10.

According to Hillarie Michaelson, the animal welfare coordinator for the San Antonio Great Dane Rescue, two women were hanging around the store looking at the dogs. When several of the volunteers entered the store to process an adoption, the two women took Joker. The women pulled Joker out of his cage, put him on a leash and walked away.

The SAGDR is concerned for the well-being of Joker. They are unaware if the dog is being cared for or for what reason he was taken. Michaelson says they just want to get Joker back.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of Joker, please contact the San Antonio Great Dane Rescue through their helping lost pets page.
