SAN ANTONIO - The community gathered at Little Woodrow’s restaurant this weekend to enjoy food, games, and live entertainment to celebrate the life of fallen San Antonio firefighter Scott Deem.

He's the hero who died in the Ingram Square Shopping Center fire trying to save the lives of others. The day-long event was a fundraiser to help support the family he left behind.

“We love him. We're going to miss him but we're going to be there for his family and that's what this is all about today,” Bobby Ford of Fire Station 14 said.

The event also featured a silent auction with items donated from various local organizations.

Organizers said the event was just one more way they hope to show the Deem family that although this hero is gone, he will never be forgotten.
