San Antonio City Councilman Joe Krier won a five-candidate race for the District 9 seat and Northside ISD's bond issue got nearly two-to-one support in elections held throughout Bexar County on Saturday.
Krier had been appointed to his seat after former Councilwoman Elisa Chan left office to pursue a run for the state Senate. He defeated four challengers Saturday, receiving about 57 percent of the vote.
Also vying for the seat are Weston Martinez, Donald Oroian, Corey Clark and Bert Cecconi.
Northside ISD voters approved a $648 million bond issue for the construction of one new high school, four new elementary schools and improvements to many other district buildings, including additional classroom space and renovations. The bond passed with more than 65 percent in favor.
