SAN ANTONIO – A driver rammed a police officer’s cruiser and then sped off early Monday morning.

The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. Monday at the De Zavala Road and Interstate 10 intersection. Two officers were sent investigate a man passed out inside of a car at the intersection.

Police used their cars to sandwich the suspect in. Officer said  the man rammed a female officer's patrol car when she woke him up. Investigators said he put his vehicle in reverse and rammed the officers car two more times.

SAPD said the officer put her arm through the suspect's window to stop him. He took off bruising her arm.

He was caught a short distance away on DeZavala Rd at a shopping plaza when multiple police cars surrounded him.

Police said the man had drugs in his vehicle. He faces charges of assaulting a police officer and evading arrest. 

Investigators are not sure what made the man freak out.
