'Daddy shot mommy': Twins witness mother murdered, sister shot

Police said the man killed the mother of his three children and shot one of his daughters.

SAN ANTONIO - Three children are losing their parents as a result of a double shooting on March 28.

Bexar County Deputies said their mother was killed. James Cardona, their father, has been arrested for her death and shooting his own daughter.

An arrest warrant said murder victim Tamara Martinez has a 13-year-old daughter and twins by the murder suspect.

The kids were eyewitnesses to the mother's death deputies said.

Investigators responded to the 21300 block of Hwy 281 south for a shooting. The arrest document said Cardona's teenage daughter was standing on the side of the highway suffering from gunshot wounds inflicted by her father.

According to the arrest document, the twins told deputes their 31-year-old father climbed through a window and started to fight Martinez.

Their sister tried to intervene.

"Daddy shot mommy," the twins said.

Deputies said Cardona shot Martinez multiple times killing her. He reportedly shot his daughter multiple times too.

The warrant showed she's at University Hospital in stable condition.

Cardona was not at the scene when deputies arrived. The arrest document said he called his father someone shot Martinez.

The double shooting suspect faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
