CPS Energy crews to help restore power in Florida

CPS Energy crews leave for Jacksonville, FL

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio CPS Energy crews left Wednesday morning to Jacksonville to help restore power after the area was hit by Hurricane Irma.

The agency got a request from Jacksonville Electric Authority. According to KENS 5 sister station First Coast News, there were approximately 342,000 people still without power, as of early Wednesday morning.

CPS is sending 56 employees to work in Jacksonville for three weeks. They departed from the east-side service center at 6:15 Wednesday morning.

The trip is more than 1,000 miles which is about a 15.5 hour drive from San Antonio.
