CPS Energy crews head to Florida, helping Hurricane Matthew restoration

SAN ANTONIO – In the wake of Hurricane Matthew making landfall, CPS Energy will be sending several crews and support teams to Orlando, Florida to assist with storm restoration efforts.

This comes in response to a request from the American Public Power Association and the Texas Public Power Association, said a press release.

Hurricane Matthew is projected to near the east coast of Florida, with central coastal Florida experiencing hurricane conditions, on Friday. The hurricane’s storm winds are expected to hit 145 miles per hour.

According to a press release, nearly 50 CPS Energy team members will head to Florida Friday morning g for a two-day trip. The restoration teams are made up of line crews, pole crews, overhead construction personnel, fleet personnel, and safety team members.

The crew could be in Orlando for approximately two weeks depending on the damage caused by the hurricane.
