Comal ISD students achieve degrees before diplomas

NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS - Over forty high school students were presented with associate’s degrees from St. Phillip’s College on Friday even before they earned their high school diplomas.

During the commencement that took place at the Freeman Coliseum, the students proudly walked the stage for this unique opportunity.

A spokesperson for the school said that the students completed the courses free of charge at Memorial Early College High School and accumulated enough college credit hours to earn their associate’s degree to make this achievement possible.

“We are so proud of these students for all of their hard work,” Tia Weidenfeller, the high school counselor stated. “They have such a great head start as they move on to four-year universities.”

The forty-eight college graduates will receive their high school diplomas at Canyon High School’s Performing Arts Center on June 2.
