SAN ANTONIO -- The future of Capitol Park Little League is now uncertain.
Tuesday morning the city announced the league will not be relocated to McAllister Park.
After more than 50 years, the league is losing its home field and the land is being taken over by a business.
The city had agreed to give the group $2 Million from an upcoming bond election to build new baseball fields in McAllister Park. However, outdoor enthusiasts are fighting to keep those fields from being built there.
Don Losole started a petition on change.org that already has more than 5,600 signatures against the fields.
According to a press release, the city is now in the process of exploring alternative sites other than at McAllister Park and staff will present options to the Parks & Recreation Community Bond Committee at their next meeting on Monday, Oct. 17.
