Church youth leader arrested, accused of sexually assaulting a child

SAN ANTONIO – A church youth leader was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child after the victim came forward about the alleged incidents.

According to an affidavit, the child told their school counselor that their youth leader, 25-year-old Omar Roman Salas, had sexually assaulted them. The victim told police the incident happened twice over the past couple of months.
The child told police the first incident happened in February at Salas’ home where he undressed and touched the victim. The second incident occurred two months ago, again at Salas’ home, where the child claimed Salas performed a sex act on him, according to the affidavit.
The school counselor alerted the victim’s mother about the allegations, according to the affidavit. The mother then spoke with the church pastor who told police Salas admitted to fondling the child.
The church where Salas worked was not named in the affidavit.
Salas was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child and held on a $50,000 bond.
