Boil water notice issued for New Braunfels subdivision

SAN ANTONIO - New Braunfels Utilities notified all customers in the Copper Ridge Subdivision to boil their water prior to consumption on Wednesday until further notice.

According to NBU, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required NBU to contact all customers because of a drop in water pressure caused by excessive irrigation.

The information distributed to customers instructed them that to ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

Customers were also encouraged to purchase bottled water or obtain water from another suitable source for drinking.

According to the NBU, the use of irrigation will be prohibited until for 72-hours in the area affected.

Customers will be notified when it is no longer necessary to boil water and the water is safe for drinking and human consumption purposes, NBU said.

If customers have questions concerning this matter, they may contact NBU Director of Water Systems Trino Pedraza at 830-608-8940 or the NBU Control Center at 830-629-4628 (4NBU).
