Boerne student to compete in national spelling bee Thursday on ESPN

Alex Iyer, an eighth-grader at the Geneva School in Boerne, will compete on TV at the Scripps-Howard Naitonal Spelling Bee on Thursday.

When you watch the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee on Thursday, you’ll see a local face among the competitors.

Alex Iyer, an eighth-grader at the Geneva School of Boerne, will compete in the televised event.

According to the official website, Alex is a black belt, plays tennis and the cello, and is president of his school’s National Junior Honor Society. He competed in last year’s national spelling bee and finished tied for 22nd.
