Bexar County reacts to Donald Trump presidential victory

San Antonians react to the election

SAN ANTONIO - The day after President-elect Donald Trump addressed the nation, Bexar County voters were still dealing with the aftermath of the presidential election.

Many found the race to be a lot closer than they expected. The mood was tense at the Bexar County Clinton campaign headquarters.

"I'm just in shock from the outcome. I think there are a lot of people that are in mourning because they're scared about their families and they're scared about the communities and what's going to happen to them," said Diana Arevalo, a Clinton supporter.

Across town, at the Bexar County Republican headquarters, the atmosphere was much different.

"I'm so excited, this is awesome," one Trump supporter said in tears.

Local leaders of both parties said that now that the election is over, it's time to think about the future.

"The people of America are going to give Donald Trump a chance and we're going to make America great again with his leadership," said Robert Stovall, chairman of the Bexar County Republicans.

"It's a new day, this election is behind us, let's look toward the future and that's what we're going to focus on because there's so much to do," said Manuel Medina, chairman of the Bexar County Democrats.
