Thieves use forklift to steal ATM from northwest-side shopping center

ATM stolen with forklift in shopping center

SAN ANTONIO - A forklift was used to pry an ATM out of the ground in the middle of a shopping center Wednesday.

The cleaning crew at a Chipotle restaurant were eyewitnesses to a surprising crime. They watched thieves make a major withdrawal Wednesday morning from a local bank.

An ATM was stolen from the BBVA Compass Bank using a giant forklift located in the Huebner Oaks Shopping Center.

Police said the heist happened just before 4 a.m. Wednesday.

At least, two men are suspected in this crime and police said the forklift is likely stolen too.

The suspects left the forklift behind after loading the ATM into the back of dark colored pickup truck.

The forklift was found still running with the keys in the ignition.

The ATM thieves are still at-large.
