SAN ANTONIO - An armed robber climbed through a drive-through window at McDonald's and stole a cash register early Wednesday morning.

It happened at the McDonald's on I-10 and S. W.W. White Road on the east side.

Police said the robber was wearing a bandana over his face and knocked loudly on the drive-through window. The robber reportedly knocked so loud, the employees thought it was gunshots and hid in a back room.

McDonald's Asset Protection Supervisor Rick Soler said it's the season for an uptick in robberies.

"It's the need for holiday money," Soler said.

The robber stole the cash register and took off on foot, but Soler said it was empty. No one has been arrested.

No one was hurt in the robbery.
