Distracted driving may have led to a Monday morning accident on San Antonio's east side.

Police say a woman traveling with four children struck a utility pole after veering off the road and onto the curb in the 2200 block of E. Commerce, causing the pole to land in the street.

Officers said the accident may have occurred when the woman became distracted while tending to one of the children.

A 3-year-old child was taken to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital with a bleeding nose.

The 5-month-old, 18-month-old, and 4-year-old children were not injured, authorities said.

Crews cut off power to a live, abandoned overhead service line that also landed in the middle of the street. Both eastbound and westbound traffic on E. Commerce was shut down for about half an hour while they cleared the accident.

A citation was not issued to the driver.
