SAN ANTONIO -- A 53-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a street north of downtown late Wednesday night.
The body of Wendy Armstrong was found in the 1500 block of McCullough Avenue around 10:30 p.m.
Police said whoever hit Armstrong never stopped and no witnesses were at the scene when officers arrived.
The victim was found about a block away from where police believe she was hit. Her body was surrounded by plastic bags, and nearby residents told police they recognized her as a homeless woman who frequented the area.
Investigators said they were reviewing surveillance video at nearby businesses to get a description of the vehicle.
