As soon as the sun came out, the hail melted and homeowners in Uvalde began to get a glimpse of the damage caused by Wednesday’s storm.
In parts of town, fallen tree limbs and leaves was the extent of the damage.
In other areas, power lines and large trees were knocked over.
“I just heard something like a train hit the side of the house,” said Mary Garcia.
That noise was the tree in her front yard crashing down.
It took out the chimney and landed on her truck.
Down the street at Country Garden and Seed, the hail took out hundreds of plants and dozens of pots.
“It sounded like people were just throwing baseballs on top of the roof. It was just so loud,” said the nursery’s owner, Yolanda Moreno.
She said couldn't believe her eyes or ears.
Garcia said the same.
Looking at the tree on top of her truck, she said, “I can’t believe this.”
