SAN ANTONIO -- An argument between two south-side neighbors turned into an all-out street brawl late Tuesday night.

The brawl, which involved nearly a dozen people, started as an argument between two women at the intersection of Linda Lou and Hackberry, San Antonio police said.

Each of the women called more family members outside to help, police said. It didn't take long for the two families to start exchanging punches.

Police said everyone scrambled into a home when officers arrived at the intersection.

A witness told police that one of the men involved had fire a gunshot into the air, which prompted police to set up as if they were in a standoff situation.

The suspects were eventually talked out of their homes, police said.

Six people were taken into custody for questioning. Two people were arrested on weapon charges.

Investigators said the two women had fought the night before but their husbands were able to break it up.

It was not immediately clear what the women were arguing about.
