It's part of the new "It Can Wait" campaign kicked off Tuesday by Spurs guard Danny Green and the City of San Antonio.
SAPD has issued 646 citations for texting and driving since January 2011.
An AT&T tweet encouraged people to log onto ItCanWait.com and take the pledge.
More than 2,000 people re-tweeted that message.
