SAN ANTONIO -- For the first time in five days since her daughter was killed in a wreck that claimed two, Georgina Rodriguez’s mother, Yvonne Rodriguez, spoke to members of the media about her loss.

"Georgina was an amazing little girl. She was full of life. She had an amazing beautiful smile,” said the tearful mom, flanked by family members.

Gina was riding in the back of a car when the driver collided with a truck on the access road of Loop 1604 and Hausman.

Gina’s friend, Gabriella Lerma, died almost immediately after the crash. Gina died one day later.

“She wanted to graduate high school... and be a neo nurse. She wanted to take care of people. She always was there for everybody," Rodriguez said.

Gina was known for her benevolence and kindness, she added.

Now the family is planning the 16-year-old's  funeral.

The grieving mother said she does find some peace in all of this :

"She didn't go alone. Knowing that her and Gabby left together. They are still up in heaven together as well," Rodriguez said.
